Here's the thing, Jay McLean releases a book, you read it. Plain and simple. You clear your schedule, tell your family dinner's in the crock pot, and you ignore life and fall deeply into her story absorbing the magic of her words. (At least, that's what I do, seems like the only logical response to a release from her.) When your family asks for something you simply give them the look and the "it's book release day, I'm not adulting tonight" I stayed up way too late, and will drink insane amounts of coffee today to make up for it, but I don't care, because this book was perfect.

The More Than series is one of my favorites, and we get glimpses of Lucas and the Preston family through that series, and they are just as amazing in this book. While you don't need to read the More Than series to read this book, and feel the amazing feels it provides, I strongly suggest you read the series before this book since there are so many life altering events that take place for this family, and the More Than series really allows you to see why Lucas and his family and their love for Laney goes so deep.
Lucas and Laney are not perfect, and that's what makes this story perfect. Life doesn't always go how it is supposed to, and you have to work at getting what you want. McLean's stories provide everything your heart needs in a book. She can make you laugh, swoon, love, and break your heart all within those pages, and this book definitely has all of this. There are moments of insane frustration, and heart pounding fear of where their story is going, but she never manages to disappoint.

I like, sometimes love the books about friends to lovers, especially high-school stuff.. do not know, maybe it is a secret teenager inside me who wants to live that life again and again... or maybe the reason is I never had duch a boy who is my best friend, so I miss it..?!Cannot say which of the reasons is true, but I have read a lot books of this kind.

Few spoilers ahead...

I wanted to love Lucas and Lois. Really wanted... but they just did not felt real. If their love was real, then why both of them were so easy to jump into hands of others? I do understand why Lois was hurt by Lucas, but,if you claim that you love a guy soooo much, how can you jump into other guy’s hands so easily?!

Actually, I liked Cooper real much till the middle of the book where he harmed her for the first time. And then it felt like the author did not want Lois and Cooper be together, so she made Cooper to be the bad guy. And the best way how to do it - through violence.

The beginning was so promising and the end just too sugarcoated...
So, I wanted to finish reading Logan before writing a review for Lucas. It just seemed fitting.

Lucas and Laney have been one big rollercoaster of emotions and events. And I have to tell you, I don't like Lucas much. The boy, not the book. I guess I kind of expected more from him? The oldest, the example, the savior. He's the one who remembers the best the love between his parents and he got to see Lucy and Cam fall in love. He saw Cam read Lucy, but at the same time, he didn't see this girl who loved him since she stepped one foot on his property.

And I was actually happy when she found another guy. Yay, girl! He hurt you with his cluelessness and idiotic behavior so much. You deserve better than him. But at the same time, I hurt for him. Yeah, I hurt because it was painful to watch him realize he had her, the perfect girl, his one and he let her walk out of his life and into other man's hands.

For this one, you'll need a lot of patience and tissues. But it was a great story.

I especially loved that we got to see their past, things we couldn't see in More Than Forever because some stuff even Lucy and Cam didn't know. And I wonder what other things will be revealed as we go on with the story of Preston Punks.

Wow! Breathless!!
I'm so in awe over this story. My heart broke knowing it was over and that I'd have to say goodbye to these characters. Characters that I laughed with, cried with and even fell so crazy in love with.
I have read work from Jay McLean in the past but I have to tell you, her writing in Lucas is like nothing you've ever read before. You could tell these characters spoke volumes to her. The dialogue is so catchy and addictive, I craved this book every moment I had to step away.
This story was like crack to my soul. I was addicted to the characters. I was addicted to the unbelievable style of writing. The way the author strung sentences from one line to the next was truly unique. The story progressed from one page to the next. The characters grew from the very beginning to the very end, "always learning". ;-)

I fell hard and I fell fast for Both Lucas and Lois aka Laney.
These two had a beautiful relationship that every girl longs to have with a boy.
This story is a roller coaster ride of emotions with all the twists and turns, with the loops to make your stomach drop.

Author Jay McLean evoked so many feelings in me and at so many unexpected times. I laughed out loud one minute and the next I was panting for breathes, my heart pounding in my chest, my anxiety sizzling through my veins.

I can't formulate the right words to explain how truly amazing this book is.
If someone asked me "What's your favorite type of book to read?" My answer would be Lucas by Jay McLean. Hands Down!! PERFECTION!!
Everything I long for in a story, she delivered. Everything I need from my characters, she gave all that and more.
All the angst. All the feels. All the emotions through the heartbreak and heart mending. The scenes, the dialogue, the perfectly constructed deliverance of it all.
