I thought the story was pretty good. The h was a little annoying at times because she was suppose to be a strong independent character, but she always ran at the first sign of trouble instead of confronting it. She did grow on me. Ten years ago, the two main characters were in love. She was 18 to his 21. She ran off when she spotted him making out with another woman. She stayed away for the last 10 years and started a new life for herself. She now owns a real estate business and is engaged to her business partner. The h returns to town to help her injured dad on the ranch. The first person she runs into is her ex, the H. The H is still upset over the h leaving him since she never said goodbye or told him the reason for her departure. After the misunderstanding is resolved, the two pair up again since neither ever got over each other. There is a lot of inner dialogue from the H regarding his love for the h. I found that endearing and fell in love with him.
I liked that they resolved the misunderstanding before the midpoint in the book . They start as a happy couple from this point and fight the ex fiance who is the villain during the remainder of the story. I found some parts of the book pretty funny...especially the labor section in the epilogue. The H's best friend was hilarious at times at the expense of the H. I see that he is the H in the next book in this series. Good for him. He should get his own h.
I dinged the book for a couple of reasons. I felt that the ex fiancé going psycho at the very end was unnecessary drama and too gimmicky. I also thought it was strange for the h to stay away from home for 10 years when she had family there. I also dislike this magic 10 year gap if both characters claim they never got over each other. Why radio silence for 10 years if you are so in love? And I also have to question the existence of a fiancé if the h thought about the H every day.
Overall, it is a 3.5 star recommend. It was a fun and low angst read.

My Kind of Trouble Texas Trouble Series Book 1 edition by Becky McGraw Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This is the first book,I've read from the author but it won't be the last.I loved Cassie, she was a career woman but a cowgirl at heart. She left home year's ago with a broken heart, but returns home to help her father out running his ranch after his accident. The first person she runs into is the bad boy Luke who broke her heart 10 year's ago.Luke is the sheriff now and the sparks fly. What happens when a engaged woman gets to deny her feelings for her first love who she thinks betrayed her. That's why you have to buy the book to find out for yourself. You won't be disappointed.Becky writes intriguing characters that you love from the start, alittle mystery and a whole lot of romance. So put your cowboy boots on and drool over some hot cowboys.
This was one of the best books I've read in awhile. I started this book when I got off work, knowing I had the next day off. I ended up staying up all night just to finish the book. There was not a good place to stop for the night...I fell in love with the main charactors Cassie Bellamy, and Luke Matthews. I don't want to spoil the book for you, so I can't say everything I loved about this book. I will tell you, I laughed, I smiled, and at times I wanted to throw stuff while I read this book. I will highly recommend this book, if you like a really good romance. The ending is not the same as you would guess, so you have to keep reading till the last page.
I LOVE THIS SERIES !!! Ok so I am going backwards from the first to the last book that I have had read of the series. I want to express that I find it very hard to find interesting, smart, witty, strong characters, and I love when there is suspense and romance.
From the first book and not that far into it you get hooked and hog tied ( I am not going to spoil it for you because well it would take something away from the magic of this wonderful series.
Something that McGraw does is she starts her magics and brings in character that you know have a story they way they interact with the main characters of the story and you think in the back of your mind and some comments they make or how they interact with each other they stand waiting for their chance to embark on their own journey through pages.
I highly recommend that you start with the first book and make your way through through the series I really hope there is many more ..
My Kind of Trouble is a great read! This is the first book I have read by Becky McGraw, and it will not be the last. I got drawn into the story very quickly. The characters were very interesting and well-developed. The story had some twists and turns that kept it very interesting. It had a good blend of drama, humor, suspense and romance.
It's got strong and sexy cowboys, strong and independent women (also sexy) and a villain that has to be dealt with and added some intensity to the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this book which is the first one in the Texas Trouble series. I will be reading more books in this series. This is a very talented author indeed!
Ten years ago Cassie ran from Bowie, Texas after it appeared her boyfriend was cheating on her. She landed in Phoenix, Arizona and got her real estate license, opened her own brokerage, and got engaged to her business partner. Now she is headed back to Bowie after her father was thrown from his horse and broke his leg and he needs her help with the ranch until he is back on his feet. On her return her truck breaks down five miles from town and the ranch and who is the first person to rescue her but Luke her old boyfriend and he is now the Sherriff. She broke his heart when she left without a word and he is out for pay back.
Why do I give this book a three star rating?
The grammatical errors are distracting and extremely annoying throughout this entire book.
Did I enjoy this book?
Except for the editing issues, yes.
It was drawn out in places, but overall well written.
Would I recommend this book?
Sure. It's a little dramatic in a few places, like Luke's hospital stay, the restaurant scene with Candy, and Cassie's reason for leaving, but the worse part was Luke's symptoms in the epilogue.
