The Mad Lord Daughter Lords and Ladies Series Jane Goodger 9781420111521 Books

I enjoyed this book. I thought the author took us out of the conventional 'life of the Ton' and the endless, and I do mean endless recitations of what everyone is wearing. There are so many books to read I have decided to allow an author a "dresscription" if it is not endless....but the next time I quit the book, toss it out, and go on to the next one on my Kindle.

( yes I made up a word for those of us who are not enamored of descriptions of lace, moire, satin slipping past tight little buds....etc....I'm an old lady, I dont have time for dresscriptions. And there are so many wonderful books to read, and I might not have time to re-read books I fell in love with in my pre-teens, like War and Peace.....I can't remember dresscriptions in those. And they are still around.

Hey Writers; how about your draw lots for who gets to do dresscriptions, or maybe every other book????

But back to the the Mad Lord and his daughter, good story and I have purchased more of Jane's books. Thank you for your writing. It is appreciated by so many of us. And no, I dont give away the endings like so many reviewers do, and I never really expect anyone read my review, let's face it, it's the stars that count.

The Mad Lord Daughter Lords and Ladies Series Jane Goodger 9781420111521 Books Reviews

Have always enjoyed books from this author. and this book did not disappoint me.
Good storyline. Original backstory enjoyed the different characters. Will look for more in this series by the same author. Thumbs up
Its been awhile since I've read a book where the heroine and hero didn't act like stupid ninny's. The dialog is sharp and the secondary characters add some fun. Will plan to check out other books by this author.
This story is different from the normal by gets girl, boy loses girl, boy wins girl back, that it is hard to put down. All of the characters are enjoyable to read about.
There were a few odd scene changes, but they were not too difficult to get past. The grammar is better than I've seen lately also. I think quality with the coming of ebooks has diminished greatly and we are paying for it. This one didn't have that issue though.
You can read this alone, but the first one was good also and worth reading. It is also were you first encounter Ms. Stanhope. She deserves a happy ending after two books.
You'll like it. I'm pretty sure. I for one have not read of someone who goes through what this heroine has, with a smile and a puppy. I like her a great deal.
I like Jane Goodger's writing. The characters are usually realistically complex, the dialogue in keeping with the historical period and the story lines hold my interest. This book was no different and I enjoyed it, with the small exception that the ending seemed very abrupt and rather convenient.
Ok. I love nearly all plots, but this one wanders around and snatches occasionally for meaning. Supposedly an obsessed Duke chases a woman, she disappears, has his child, and the stepfather locks her up for 18 years, Rapunzel style. She is taken straight to London by her Uncle once the stepfather dies, and is expected to get married. Her cousin is the only man she can stand being around, and she is looked upon as almost the same as someone raised by wolves at her lack of social graces. The "Mad Lord" only shows up very briefly at the end, then conveniently dies with no fanfare at all. The whole thing is uninspired and the end is anticlimactic to put it mildly. Pass....please.
This is number two of the series and I cannot wait to read the third. I found this story entertaining and a little bittersweet at times. I don't know if the third story will fowl the theme of he first two but the first had a hero that suffered from bashfulness that caused him to be a selective mute. The second story has a heroine whose father locked her up in a veritable gilded cage, albeit a suite of rooms in her house, because he was terrified of her possibly getting disease. Nobody touched her without gloves and she never stepped out of her rooms for nearly eighteen years. How she overcame her fears is a great story.
