Catching Lucy The Lucy Harris Novella Series Book 1 eBook Terri Anne Browning Lorelei Logsdon Sara Eirew

I love love love this series so it really pains me to give this review anything less than a 5, but this novella just left me so confused! I just don't get it (SPOILER ALERT!!)...So let me get this right... because Lucy has a crush on Harris when she is 12!!!! she completely ignores him and cuts all ties to her very best friend, really for no valid reason other than she has a crush, and doesn't see him for at least 4 years (even though the families are super close and it seems impossible that they wouldn't see each other). Even Layla seems to act sorry for Lucy, when nothing really happened. Hmmm, okay. Then all of a sudden because she gets an email from him, she goes to his club, but is still horrid and rude to him, but he keeps trying to gain back her friendship, and then all of a sudden, BAM, she's back to being friends with him and falls for him. Again, what? This story just flowed so strangely for me, especially because I feel like I must have missed a book in the series because I think I remember that in the last book, Harris is hooked on Jenna and doesn't know about her. Now they are roomies and Jenna has a girlfriend? I know this is a novella series, but like another review I read, it seemed really incomplete and almost like a marketing tool to introduce a new set of characters who will obviously have their own book. A good thing was I finished this in just an hour or so and it was only $0.99 so there's not too much time or money wasted. I'll keep reading the Rocker series, but I'm really not sure that I'll read the second novella in this mini-series. Bummer.

Catching Lucy The Lucy Harris Novella Series Book 1 eBook Terri Anne Browning Lorelei Logsdon Sara Eirew Reviews

Terri Anne Browning has a complete world of Rockers starting with Demon's Wings and then Otherworld from these two series brings us the Lucy & Harris serial. Lucy is the adopted daughter of the drummer of Demon's Wings and Harris is the son of Otherworld's drummer. The Heroine, Lucy, and the Hero, Harris, of "Catching Lucy", have been best friends since childhood when their parent's bands toured together and even afterward. They were best friends during the most traumatic experience of Lucy's life. But Lucy began to have feelings that were more than friendly and started to pull away when Harris started dating and sowing his wild oats. Harris is now a young entrepreneur who never wanted to follow in his father's footsteps as a musician, his dream was to have a club featuring bands and being the place to be for dancing, drinks, and a good time. He achieved his dream at the age of 21 and he's a huge success. Lucy, despite her past as a kidnapping victim is feisty, brave, loving and loyal. But she's still in love with Harris even though he still thinks of her as a friend. Terri Anne Browning does an excellent job of conveying the frustration Lucy feels with how much love she feels for Harris and the hurt she feels when she sees that he only sees her as his best friend. The internal dialog gets really interesting when Harris realizes that he loves Lucy as more than a friend and that he may have always been in love with her. The argument his brain has with itself is really amusing. For those who have read the Demon's Wings and Otherworld series many of your favorite characters appear and not just in cameo roles. Since this is a serial there is a cliffhanger and the storyline is rather slow moving with the conflict just showing itself enough in the end to give you a taste of what is to come in the next installment.
"Catching Lucy" is the textbook classic "Friends to Lovers" romance. Terri Anne Browning gives the reader a New Adult next-gen spin-off of her Rocker series with characters that are likeable, charismatic, and delightful. The storyline is a slow burning build up to the next installment following the growth of Lucy and Harris' relationship. The action and conflict is minimal and there is no sexual activity. Again, it feels as though this serial is mainly for fans of Terri Anne Browning's Rocker series - which is fantastic so if you haven't read it - I recommend it because it's like potato chips … you can't read just one.

This is the story of Lucy & Harris they were best friends sharing a strong bond. They were both growing up in the lime light, being children of rock stars. Their relationship was always innocent and sweet, until Lucy hit puberty and started seeing her best friend as someone much more than a friend. Fearing that her childish crush would make him run for the hills she chose to be the one to cut ties. She began to pull away from Harris with no explanation of her distance. It’s been years since Lucy has seen Harris avoiding him at all costs. She receives an email one day, he's living his dream opened his own nightclub and he wants her to come see it. Lucy soon finds out maybe her heart isn't the only one in danger of being broken. Harris realizes quickly he's missed his best friend and he wants her now in an entirely different way.

So glad we finally got Lucy and Harris story. In The Rocker Series, we were treated to small pieces of the connection these two share. Terri Anne Browning did such a great job developing these two young characters we could not help but want to know where the future would take them.

This is a three part novella series with a full novel to tie it all up. I really loved this first installment, told in alternating POVs between Lucy and Harris. You can feel the angst they are both experiencing as they try to rebuild the friendship they once had yet still trying to fight their growing attraction to each other. Both of them fearing the other doesn’t feel the same way.

Harris is sweet and sexy, when he shows his alpha male possessive side over Lucy it is reminiscent of the way the Demons and OtherWorld fellas act around their women. Harris proves to be just as jealous and fiercely protective as his rock star dad Devlin Cutter. Lucy is sometimes a bit annoying but I cut her some slack because she’s young and a little foolish. She gets a bit judgmental with Harris a few times without getting the facts first. However, she is also a fiery, feisty chick like the rest of the women she has grown up with so I ended up really liking her anyway. Harrison’s devotion to Lucy after years of her ignoring him just warmed my heart. The background characters of their friends Kin and Jace were fantastic I really want to know what’s up with those two hopefully we either get more about them in this series or in a series of their own I would be all over it.

The story flowed nicely; it was a quick enjoyable read. I don’t want to give away too much because I hate spoilers, but I can say that you will definitely enjoy this sweet love story about soul mates and true love with a bit of young lust thrown in. If you are fan of The Rocker Series you will definitely enjoy this. If you haven’t read The Rocker Series I suggest you get it one of my favorites. I don’t think you need to read it though to understand this series it will just give you a better fuller understanding of the tie of these two characters.
